The Mayor Is In Town 07/16/2011
I'm a Foursquare addict. Every time I think of it, I check in when I visit an establishment. This has led to me getting a handful of mayor-ships. Here's why I'm mayor now: Walmart: What can I say? I only visit this place once every week or two, but I live in a town where Foursquare isn't used much by the locals. McDonald's: I'm more than the mayor here. I'm "The Batchelor." It seems as though every time I visit, I get hit on by a different girl that works here. It's definitely nothing to brag about. New York & Company: Let me explain myself... I've only checked in here a couple of times. I've entered this store with a few female friends who like to shop here. Crosspoint Baptist Church: Everybody here is stuck on Facebook Places. I should try to show them the light (as far as location apps go.) Pizza Hut: I buy pizza from here about once a week. I use to make my own, but it's just about as cheap to carry-out these days. Sonic: I'm proud to be the mayor of America's drive-in. I'm a six hour drive from the nearest In-N-Out, and a 90 minute drive from the nearest Whataburger. This is the next best thing. What mayorships do you hold? Are you proud of them? Add Comment Dude, Where's My Car? 06/11/2011
When traveling by car, finding an empty parking space can be bad enough. What's sometimes worst is finding your vehicle when you are ready to depart. Instead of roaming around aimlessly for a great length of time, I use one of two solutions. There's an app for that. Both the Android Market and iTunes store offer apps that will assist you in find your wheels quickly. Park you car. Hit a button on your GPS enabled smart phone. Your cars location is remember. When you're ready to leave, open up the app and it will direct you back to you car. I haven't tried many of the apps. MyCar Locator Free for Android is good enough for me. MyCar Locator also tracks how long you've been parked. That will help you avoid getting parking tickets if your car is resting in metered parking. There is another solution, which is not as high-tech. When you find your parking space, take a picture of the area surrounding where you parked. Be sure to capture an easy to distinguish landmark or street signs in the frame. When you're ready to return to you car, pull out the camera and look at the picture you took earlier. The GPS apps may not work in a parking garage, but a camera sure will. | BrianJesus follower. Love music, baseball, theater, and traveling. Always up for a new adventure.
